In this article, I’ll share with you my top 7 tips on how to make money in affiliate marketing! If you’re planning to turn your website into a profitable business, this article is for you.

When it comes to making money from the internet, there are four methods available:

  1. Offer a service, make money via ads (Video tutorial provided – half way down the post)
  2. Create and sell your own product.
  3. Sell someone else’s product.
  4. Or promote someone else’s product as an affiliate.

Today’s article will focus on the latter method.

Most marketers will use a combination of these methods to turn their website into a cash machine and a profitable business.

Nevertheless, it’s important to focus most of your efforts on one of these methods for maximum results. For instance, maybe they’ll have their own product while also including affiliate links here and there to squeeze in extra cash.

On that note, it’s important not to turn your website into an ad-center, it should look clean, and there shouldn’t be too many advertisements. When a website is full of ads it not only slows down the performance but it distracts your audience from the content, and that’s not ideal.

Online business is all about an audience consuming content, and that content needs to be good – detailed and well written.

When I land on a website that has too many ads and no useful content, I’ll click the back key within seconds, and I definitely won’t be back.

Here are my top 7 tips to teach you how to make money in affiliate marketing. This is what I have learned over the past couple of years.

1. Make a Plan First

When it come to business of any kind, it’s always important to make a plan.

I see too many people who rush into the process, create a website, and then feel overwhelmed because they don’t know which direction to take.

They don’t know if they should put ads on the website, affiliate links, or Amazon products or something else all-together.

It all can be quite confusing!

If I was you, and if I was starting out from scratch, knowing what I know now, I would open a Word document, name it, “New Website Project” and fill in all the details.

The details will include:

  • At least 5 long-tail targeted keywords (based on your niche) that have potential for bringing in traffic.
  • One main theme for the website. The articles must all revolve around this one main theme/niche.
  • One way to make money from the website. I’ll find one good product that I can promote as an affiliate.
  • Work on building some social media accounts where I can share my new article links for fast traffic.
  • Any other details I can think about.

It will take awhile to create the plan, but it will drastically improve your chances of success, instead of rushing into a over-saturated niche.

 2. Focus on One Product You Want to Promote

It’s okay to promote more than one product on your website, but it’s important to focus most of your marketing efforts on promoting one specific product. Don’t try to be a jack of all trades.

Instead, focus on one good product, one that works and makes it easier for people to reach their goals. I promote a few different products on this website but I focus most of my efforts on promoting one product because – in my opinion – it’s the best of the bunch. I still try to link out to other products where relevant, and that brings us to the next tip…

3. Always Link to Your Main Product/Product Review in Every Article

This is important.

I see a lot of people who write good articles, and those articles become super popular, but there are no affiliate links or links to reviews (which contain affiliate links) in the article.

It’s awesome if you just want to share information and tips with people, but it’s also awesome to make a bit of cash from it at the same time.

Include an affiliate link or link to a product review in every article that you publish, at least somewhere in the content, and you’ll notice a boost in sales.

It’s also good to make this a habit because there’s no way of telling which article will be a hit, some articles simply bring in more traffic than others.

If you write an article and fail to include an affiliate link, and it becomes popular, that means you have to go back and include the affiliate link, missing a bunch of potential sales.

Wouldn’t it be better to have the link there from the moment the article starts to go viral?

4. Not Everyone Wants to Buy Right Now!

But they will in the future.

In fact, they’ve probably already made a mental note to buy the product that you recommend once they have the budget or time to commit.

I think it’s important to keep in mind that most people don’t want to buy at this very second, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

There’s no need to pressure people into buying a product, they’ll buy when they want to or can afford it.

Just keep following your plan and sharing your message and the sales will come in.

5. Use Tools! This is Super Important…

You can find a tool to simplify almost any process out there, so use them!

I know when you start working online you probably don’t have a huge budget, and most of the time you’ll shy away from paid tools.

But in most cases, the paid tools will provide you with more features, and you can use those features to really improve your business.

The cost is worth it for the right tools – trust me on this one. 

This includes educational products, seminars, webinars, or anything else that will teach you how to improve your business.

One of the first things that you should setup on your new website is a system to collect leads.

Consider creating a book or an email series that you can give away for free, something that will encourage people to sign-up to your list.

Email marketing is quite important and it’s better to work on it from day one instead of setting it up at the last possible second.

It’s the best way to collect leads! And leads that trust you or your service convert like clock-work.
